Water Facts about the Water Crisis in Jordan

In the previous issue, I had highlighted the importance of raising awareness on the water crisis in Jordan, so here are some Water Facts about the severe water shortage the country is facing:

According to USAID, The freshwater available to Jordanian citizens is less than 150 cubic meters per year. However, the freshwater available to US citizens is more than 9,000 cubic meters per year.

According to the Ministry of Water & Irrigation in Jordan, the needed amount of water is 1,400 cubic meters and we are only at 150 cubic meters.

According to USAID, 90% of the rainfall evaporates that’s an immense loss!

According to the Ministry of Water & Irrigation in Jordan, most of the water used in Jordan is used up in agriculture-about 50%.

We have to collaborate together to save every drop of water in Jordan! In the next issue, I will share ways to alleviate the water problem in Jordan.
