Everybody has a different definition for “Traveling ” because it depends on their profession, experience, way of enjoyment, etc. But for a pilot what is actually traveling? Many have the concept that a pilot’s life is full of traveling with enjoyment, and some perceive that people become pilots because they get the opportunity to see the whole world. To clarify the subject this is an interview with Pilot Abdullah Rajhi (Instagram A/c: pilotrajhi) who is from Saudi Arabia, born and raised in Taif in Saudi Arabia. His dad was in the army and he used to travel with him on vacations from one country to another by plane. His passion to become a pilot began when he saw those huge big planes that he fell in love with, and decided to make his career as a pilot. Today he is a successful Saudi Arabian Boeing Pilot and a traveler.
Q.) What is traveling for you?
Pilot Abdullah: Traveling for me is learning about new cultures, meeting new people and gaining life experience. It is just like storytellers from different countries that you can’t learn or read from a book until you visit that place or country.
Q.) Being a pilot, how do you enjoy your travel life?
Pilot Abdullah: I take it simply – just relaxing, trying different food, and exploring new places in the country.
Q.) How do you manage your time to visit places when you land as a pilot in any country?
Pilot Abdullah: As a pilot landing in any country mostly gives less time to visit places, because to be honest I just like to relax and prepare myself for the next duty.
Q.) Did traveling change your life, if yes then how?
Pilot Abdullah: Traveling makes you a different person in good or bad ways, depending on the person’s personality. Yes, my life has totally changed due to traveling as I became more knowledge-oriented and came to the know-how on one planet, so many different cultures originate.
Q.)What is the difference between traveling as a pilot and traveling on holidays?
Pilot Abdullah: The main difference is relaxing and not stressing. Because traveling as a pilot is subject to a lot of changes, and also limited to many rules and regulations. When you are traveling for holidays you are free to enjoy the places you visit.
Q.) How do you define your travel life?
Pilot Abdullah: Stressful but worth it.
Q.) What do you enjoy most: traveling as a pilot or traveling on a vacation?
Pilot Abdullah: Of course vacation.
Q.) Do you agree with the statement “Pilots automatically become travelers”. If yes then why?
Pilot Abdullah: Yes. Because traveling is one of the main facts about pilot lifestyle. Traveling is attached to a pilot’s career.
Q.) Why do pilots travel to different countries when they are on vacation as they already got the chance to visit those places as a pilot?
Pilot Abdullah: Again, it’s all about being FREE from any duty and job responsibilities.
