Meet Chef Lynn Daniella Hoffmann, a renowned chef creator -“Jump into my kitchen”

Chef Lynn Daniella Hoffmann is a self-taught chef whose love of cooking began when she was very young and spent time in the kitchen of her late mother. She was born in Montreal, Canada.  Her parents, who were Hungarian and Romanian, emigrated to Portugal when she was a kid. Her family came back to Canada when she was a late teenager, and at the age of sixteen, she moved out on her own and started cooking. “Jump Into My Kitchen” began as a self-challenge to develop at least one new dish every day for a year. It eventually evolved into a self-published book and the launch of her Instagram account: jump_into_my_kitchen. The latter has developed into a rather well-known brand over time.  Meanwhile, she operated a fun “no menu” restaurant at home called Saveurs du Jour, which focused on seasonal and local products. She is always picking up new skills and experimenting with new ingredients, flavors, textures, and colors based on her expertise as an artist, seasoned chef, and traveler. She just returned to Portugal and is now a Chef Creator on the popular app Gronda, where many of her recipes are available.  https://gronda.com/@lynn-hoffmann

Q.) Given that your ancestors come from several nations, what food do you enjoy preparing?

Chef Lynn: I adore creating dishes from other countries and frequently combine them when suitable. My food is greatly influenced by Portuguese and Hungarian cuisines. Because I have family in Malaysia, I also love making foods with Asian influences.

Q.) What considerations should be made when designing a menu?

Chef Lynn: The most crucial element is your customer or guest: constantly consider their requirements, preferences, and dislikes when creating your menu. Flavors, textures, seasonal products, and colors should all be balanced. As usual, the most important factor is flavor balance, which is followed by delicious appearance.

Q.) How does your fine art and graphic design degree help in the presentation of your dish?

Chef Lynn: My plating designs are greatly influenced by my degrees in fine art and graphic design, as well as my minors in sculpture and photography. Being a visual person, I can instantly picture a dish being plated in a strong, colorful, upright, and occasionally amusing manner.

Q.) Who do you think is your ideal audience or the folks you enjoy cooking for the most?

Chef Lynn: Those who are willing to try new meals with a surprise element make up my ideal clientele!

Q.) If someone has never tried your type of cuisine, how would you characterize it?

Chef Lynn: Although the phrase “fusion” can be misused and confusing, I would describe my food as “creative fusion.” I frequently “fuse” cultures according to my knowledge and experiences. “Creative” because, of course, the plating is always an impromptu, artistic surprise, and I can taste a fresh creation in my brain long before I really create it!

Q.) Do individuals find inspiration for cooking on social media?

Chef Lynn: Indeed, they do. I made my Instagram account: jump_into_my_kitchen mostly to encourage people, and I’ve been successful in doing so. In order to motivate others, I released the Jump Into My Kitchen cookbook last year.   It is available for purchase on the “FOUND.com” website.

Q.) What does healthy cooking entail, in your opinion?

Chef Lynn: I think the term “healthy” cooking often misinterpreted. Staying attentive of ingredients—fresh, local, and seasonal—is essential to stay healthy. A balance of grains, fruits, vegetables, proteins, high-quality oils (like olive oil), herbs, and spices. I don’t often fried meals. Most of the time, I grill, roast, steam, or sauté. Without a doubt, I never buy fast food or premade meals.
