“If You Were a Decision-Maker” Returns for Its Second Season Through a Youth Parliament — Youth as Decision-Makers

From an audience to decision-makers, 13 young men and women from across Jordan took part in a unique experience through the second season of Kidoz Times’ “If You Were a Decision-Maker,” implemented in partnership with Free Press through a Youth Parliament experience.

The initiative placed young people in the role of decision-makers, giving them the opportunity to discuss issues affecting their lives and communities and develop decisions from the perspective of a new generation. The Youth Parliament included 13 seats representing Jordan’s governorates, including a dedicated seat for persons with disabilities to ensure diverse youth voices were represented.

Following an online voting process, participants underwent intensive training before taking part in six filmed parliamentary sessions. They discussed key issues including education, the environment, and justice, alongside topics selected by the participants themselves.

More than a parliamentary simulation, the experience created a space for young people to express their views, engage with issues that matter to them, and propose solutions from their own perspective. Through “If You Were a Decision-Maker,” youth voices moved beyond being heard to becoming part of the discussion, decisions, and solutions shaping their communities.
