Kidoz Times Launches “HIYA” Project in Aqaba to Empower Women and Strengthen Their Participation in the Workforce

Kidoz Times has launched the “HIYA” Project in Aqaba as a practical initiative aimed at empowering women and strengthening their participation in the workforce. The project seeks to contribute to creating a more equitable and supportive environment for women and young women, while challenging traditional perceptions surrounding women’s roles in society.

The project comes in response to the challenges created by economic changes and the evolving labor market, and reflects Kidoz Times’ belief that empowering women and young women and equipping them with the skills needed to access economic opportunities are essential to achieving sustainable development.

As part of the project, Kidoz Times carried out a series of field activities in Aqaba, including specialized training workshops on content writing and digital media. The workshops targeted university students and young women interested in pursuing careers in the media and communications sector. The training sessions included students from the University of Jordan – Aqaba Branch and were conducted over several days, reaching approximately 150 participants.

The workshops focused on developing participants’ skills in interactive media, understanding the characteristics and requirements of digital platforms, selecting appropriate language and communication styles, and applying these concepts through practical exercises and hands-on activities.

Beyond training, the “HIYA” Project placed particular emphasis on listening to the voices and experiences of young women themselves. Dedicated dialogue sessions were held with project participants to discuss the challenges women face in the Aqaba labor market. These sessions provided a space to address issues related to economic opportunities, women’s empowerment, and societal perceptions of working women, while encouraging participants to develop practical ideas and solutions based on their everyday experiences.

Kidoz Times also expanded the project’s reach through its various media programs. Episodes of “Youth Voice” focused on the challenges facing women, while highlighting women’s achievements and success stories. The platform also addressed women’s empowerment through its Kidoz Podcast, using its media channels to amplify messages supporting women’s participation and economic empowerment.

As part of its field engagement, Kidoz Times conducted activities through its “Kidoz Street” program, with the team taking to the streets of Aqaba to interview members of the community and hear their perspectives on women’s roles in the workforce. These activities helped create a broader public conversation around women’s participation in the labor market and the importance of creating supportive environments for working women.

The project also included radio interviews with Sawt Al Aqaba Radio, as well as conversations with successful women who served as inspiring examples of women’s ability to succeed, contribute, and make an impact in their communities. In addition, Kidoz Times organized community sessions in spaces such as Bayt Al Ward, aimed at encouraging dialogue and promoting positive perceptions of working women.

As part of its efforts to strengthen local partnerships, Kidos Times also held a productive meeting with the “Makanati” Committee in Aqaba, where the platform’s services and the “She” Project were presented and discussed. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on ways to support women and improve their economic and professional opportunities in the city.

To ensure the sustainability and wider reach of the project’s impact, Kidoz Times published the project’s outputs—including training activities, dialogue sessions, media programs, and field interviews—across its social media platforms. This helped expand public engagement and deliver the project’s key messages to a broader audience both within Aqaba and beyond.

The “HIYA” Project is implemented under the “Makanati” Economic and Leadership Empowerment of Women Initiative, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project reflects Kidoz Times’ capacity to implement integrated initiatives that bring together training, media, and community engagement, offering a practical model for transforming women’s empowerment from a concept into tangible and sustainable impact.
